Bioentrainment
Bioentrainment is the process
by which living beings become locked in to cycles, rhythms or waves from
outside their body limits. In a way inner bioentrainment is a fundamental
part of physiological functioning. If, for example, the heart cells do
not keep in step with each other the result will be fibrillation and an
erratic heartbeat. There are other instances of bioentrainment such as
Circadian Rhythms that have evidently affected the human body. For example
in terms of evolution, menstruation is probably linked with the lunar
cycle.
Bioentrainment is responsible
for causing epileptic seizures when people susceptible to epilepsy are
exposed to strobe lights flashing at ten cycles per second. This is the
dominant brainwave pattern of someone in a somewhat dissociated state.
These alpha waves may also be induced in normal people while driving down
road that is lined by trees when the sun is low. This can cast shadows
across the field of view of the motorist at a regular rate that depends
upon the speed.
By ascertaining the individual
brainwave pattern of an individual while asleep, it has been possible
to bring about sleep by transmitting those patterns through electrodes
that are attached to the person's scalp. Even radio waves transmitted
at a distance it has been claimed, have been effective at bringing about
sleep.
