She uses healing by colours and angel healing also within her treatments. Having worked within the health service for a number of years, She first became interested in alternative forms of healing a number of years ago when her father was diagnosed with cancer. She was fascinated by the level of pain relief and comfort that could come from such a non-invasive method of treatment like Reiki and has spent a number of years working through the levels of Reiki and now has regular clients. About ReikiReiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning 'universal life energy'. As a natural healing system, it can benefit everyone, from young babies to adults and it is a safe, non-invasive treatment. It can be used alongside other complementary therapies or conventional medicine. Reiki can be given on a treatment couch or sitting in a chair, therefore making it an easy treatment to receive. Reiki helps the body to reach an inner state of harmony, physically, mentally and spiritually. As well as helping many physical ailments, it can also promote the changing of any negative mental habits, turning these into more positive and productive thought patterns. Once we begin to think more positively, our lives and our health become more positive too. Benefits of Reiki?Benefits of Reiki reported by clients include deep relaxation, promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well being on all levels. Reikis gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, in any situation. Being complementary, Reiki works effectively alongside orthodox healthcare and natural remedies, expanding treatment options. Treatments with Reiki energy reduce stress within the body, thereby inducing a state of relaxation and boosting the immune system. The body can then be allowed to begin the healing process. Other benefits include:
What Happens During a Reiki Treatment?During a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from Sinead's hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. Sinead places her hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach and feet. Other more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs. The whole treatment usually lasts between 40 to 90 minutes depending on the needs of the client. What Does a Reiki Treatment Feel Like?![]() What one experiences during a treatment varies somewhat from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced. At the end of the treatment clients usually feel refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook. How Many Reiki Treatments are Required? Each individual responds uniquely so there are no set protocols for frequency of treatment. Each session is complete in itself and your body continues to integrate and balance for hours, days and even weeks afterwards. Reiki can relieve pain and acute symptoms rapidly, while chronic problems may require more extensive sessions. Length of treatment depends on the root cause of the problem and the amount of energy needed to bring the problem area of the body back into balance. Reiki
