Tony Lawless is one of Dublin's most experienced and successful Pilates instructors. People travel from all parts of Dublin, and beyond, to attend his highly popular Pilates classes.
Analysis of movement is fundamental in determining why certain injuries occur and why the body suffers with pain. Tony believes that when the body is perfectly aligned and it's muscles work in a co-ordinated manner then normal flowing movement that is free from pain can occur. Through his work as an alternative and complementary therapist he regularly notes that any disruption to normal movement almost always leads to dysfunction, overuse injuries and pain - often chronic. When this happens the body adapts and learns to move in an abnormal manner with attendant pain.
This is exactly why Pilates is so important and is hugely effective. Pilates helps to correct faulty and damaging movement by dealing with the core of the problem - the spine. Through Pilates people learn how to move correctly by engaging the deep postural muscles. Since Tony has introduced pilates to his clients he has found that they maintain the improvement that they have gained as a result of his CranioSacral, and other, treatments thus reducing the need for successive follow-up treatment sessions. Tony is absolutely convinced that Pilates plays a very importance role in the prevention of pain and for feeling good in mind, body and spirit.
