What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive holistic and complementary therapy. It is a Japanese hands-on healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation which also promotes healing. Reiki enhances the body's innate ability to heal itself. Reiki is being used worldwide in many hospitals and other care facilities alongside conventional medical treatments and therapies. It helps restore balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit promoting healing. The energy which flows in Reiki healing is the Universal or Life Force energy.
How does Reiki Work?
Reiki healing works by clearing and balancing the client’s life-force energy which flows through and around the body. The therapist has been professionally trained to enable the gentle Reiki energy to flow through her/his hands into and around the client. Reiki energy then flows to where the client’s energy is blocked or depleted, gently working to clear any blockages. Fresh energy then begins to flow into the client’s energy system. This results in the client’s energy flowing more freely and efficiently encouraging the awakening of the body’s innate ability to heal itself. A Reiki treatment can revitalise the client’s energy system by restoring its natural balance, providing deep relaxation, and bringing about a sense of peace and well-being to foster a more positive and balanced outlook on life and day-to-day living.
What Can the Reiki Client Expect?
Anne carries out each client’s treatment in a caring and professional manner. The treatment takes place in a comfortable and welcoming therapy room which is conducive to relaxation and healing. Anne will complete a client consultation form with you when you first attend. Confidentiality and privacy are assured. A Reiki treatment is offered through gentle non-invasive touch by lightly placing the hands on specific energy points on the client’s body to facilitate a flow of Reiki energy through the therapist’s hands to the client. Should the client prefer, the treatment can be carried out equally effectively without touch, by holding the hands a few inches above the body. Feelings of deep relaxation, peace and well-being are usually experienced as the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of tension, anxiety and stress. Reiki sessions can be carried out while the client is lying down or seated. The client remains fully dressed. A Reiki treatment does not involve massage.

A Reiki treatment every now and again is a lovely way of treating yourself to an hour of complete relaxation and self-care. Having regular Reiki treatments will help to maintain good health physically, mentally and emotionally and promote a sense of ease and well-being.
Each session, which includes a short consultation, will last for approximately 1hour. The number of sessions required varies from person to person depending on the ailment/condition. Relief/healing may take place quickly, or more gradually where conditions/ailments have been ongoing or deep-seated. A course of 4/6 sessions may be required in some cases.

"In August of 2017 I was involved in a severe car accident. As a result I was off work with a back injury for a number of months. This was an extremely stressful time and I began to suffer quite badly from anxiety and panic attacks. I attended a number of sessions of Reiki with Anne and found it extremely beneficial. I felt calm and rested after each session. It also highlighted for me the importance of taking quality time out during this stressful time. Anne was very welcoming and I felt completely at ease. I would highly recommend this therapy."
