What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the holistic understanding, study and practice of treating points and areas in the feet and hands that relate to corresponding parts of the body. Using precise hand and finger techniques, a reflexologist may improve circulaton, induce relaxation and enable homeostatsis. This encourages the person's own healing systems to be activated to maintain wellbeing.
While many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress, at the same time many doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy, particularly in the area of Fertility and Pregnancy.
With ever increasing levels of stress, it is important people take more responsibility for their health care needs. Reflexology helps us to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level thereby encouraging us to heal and maintain health in all areas of our lives.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific sites (acupuncture points) along the body's meridians to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of qi through the individual. Acupuncture has become increasingly popular in the world of fertility, and research supporting the use of acupuncture when trying to conceive is very reassuring for clients and physicians alike.
Studies have shown that having weekly acupuncture during the two-month lead-up to IVF can be incredibly beneficial.
Acupuncture is also an incredible source of support, particularly for those struggling with fertility issues. Women who are trying to get pregnant naturally feel anxious and emotional. TCM looks at the whole picture, and as a result women feel cared for and listened to. They will often develop a strong rapport with their practitioners and experience a greater sense of wellbeing as a result.
