What is a Reiki Share?

A Reiki Share, often called a Reiki Circle, is a gathering or meeting of Reiki practitioners that come together for shared healing and social interaction. Reiki Shares can last for a couple of hours or more and some can last a full day. This is down to the personal choice of the Share host and participants. The main objective of a Reiki Share is for Reiki practitioners to meet up in a comfortable environment to give and receive Reiki. In this way practitioners can honour and appreciate each other as healers.

During a Reiki Share many healing hands focus on one person in turn. One Reiki practitioner lies on a table or plinth while the other practitioners assemble around him / her. The other members of the Share lay their hands upon the practitioner on the table thereby helping to facilitate massive flow of Reiki energies. Very often group Reiki energy can be more penetrating than individual sessions. This type of Reiki treatment can be truly wonderful and very profound.

Hosting a Reiki Share

If you wish to host your own Reiki Share the following advice may be of use to you:

	Select a day, time and duration for your Reiki Share
	Invite other Reiki practitioners. Try to give at least one week's notice. Advertise on local notice boards or on appropriate websites (See below).
	Ask the other practitioners to bring along a pillow or two and if you are expecting a large number perhaps ask one to bring a portable plinth also.
	Provide a simple registration form on the day of the Share for practitioners to record their name, phone number, and email addresses. You can use this contact information to announce future Reiki Share events.
	Provide some simple healthy refreshments such as water, herbal tea, fruit juice, fresh or dried fruit, nuts etc. If you are holding a day-long Reiki Share you could ask the participants to bring along a packed lunch.
	Create the right atmosphere for your Reiki Circle by providing a dedicated space that is free of clutter. Choose relaxing background music or sounds, scent, and dim the lighting. If possible turn off the door bell and ask everyone to put their mobile phones on silent or, better still, turn them off completely.
	Set the rules for your Reiki Share. It is your gathering so it is up to you to decide how it is conducted. Decide on the amount of time to allocate to each person on the plinth. This will be determined by the number of practitioners and the overall time available. It is recommended that one person opts out of each session in rotation. This person can act as timekeeper and also use the break to take refreshments and/or use the bathroom.
	It is acceptable to ask for a nominal financial contribution but remember that Reiki Shares are not meant to be moneymaking exercises. A contribution of €10/15 per person appears to be standard.
